Speakers

Freddi Kadden

VP of Operations, MACA Board

Freddi Weiss-Kadden’s distinguished career in the apparel industry spans over 25 years, marked by her exceptional leadership, strategic expertise, and dedication to driving business growth. Her professional experience includes directing merchandise and sales teams nationwide, as well as sourcing new products globally. In addition to her apparel industry experience, Freddi has successfully managed her family’s real estate business in New York City.  Freddi’s philanthropic efforts are a testament to her deep-seated commitment to giving back, exemplified by her annual breast cancer fundraising event, which raises over $250,000 each year. She also actively supports initiatives providing essential school supplies to underprivileged children across New York State as well as organizes toy drives for children in need in the Bronx.

Freddi’s connection to Israel and Judaism is deeply personal, with her husband’s family having perished in Auschwitz except for her father-in-law and Aunt. Freddi’s father’s family fled Poland under dire circumstances to build a life in the United States.  The Weiss-Kadden families actively support various causes benefiting Israel including JNF, UJA, FIDF, and Birthright.

On October 8th Freddi recognized the urgency of combating anti-Semitism, emphasizing education, students, and college campus environments. As the mother of three sons who graduated from the University of Michigan, Freddi seeks to preserve an environment that is safe, diverse, and engaging where future generations can flourish as her sons did.

As a board member of MACA, Freddi holds responsibility for the page’s content. Collaborating with a skilled team of moderators and administrators, she is poised to drive positive change in the effort to safeguard students, empower parents, advocate for change, and promote community engagement.

Elizabeth Rand

Founder, Mothers Against College Antisemitism (MACA)

I am the founder of Mothers Against College Antisemitism and President of the MACA Foundation

Elizabeth Rand was leading an ordinary life when on October 26, 2023 she created Mothers Against College Antisemitism (M.A.C.A.). After being in other Jewish groups and seeing the sadness and despair over the post-October 7th situation on college campuses, she launched the group to give Jewish moms and others a place to share information and brainstorm solutions to the problems faced by Jewish college students. The group became a 501c3 in December 2024 as The MACA Foundation.

Professionally she works for a large insurance company where she does state filings and describes herself as a midlevel worker bee.

Ms. Rand is proud of attending law school for four years at night while she worked full time, got married in her second year, had a baby in her third year and still graduated on time and passed the New York State Bar Exam on the first shot.

She is a two time cancer survivor as a result of the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 and will celebrate 15 years cancer free in June 2025.

When she is not annoying her Board members she can be found working out, something she has done nearly every day for 32 years. A former marathon runner, she now competes in triathlons where she can be found at the back of the pack just hoping to finish.

She also loves to travel with her husband and son Zachary. In the last few years they have cruised through the Mediterranean, zip lined in Costa Rica, did a pre-Bar Mitzvah trip to Israel, hiked a volcano in Iceland, went on Safari in Kenya, and travelled around Morocco by train, and celebrated Chanukah in Vienna.

She is an only child who lost both of her parents in a 5 week period at the end of 2022. She hopes they are looking down at all of this and that they are proud.
